    The filling of this position is based upon continued funding in the Board of Education budget.

    Note: Teachers dually certified in TESOL, Bilingual Education or ESL, with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English, will be given preference for all Stamford Public School positions.

    General Statement:
    The Program Facilitator II understands the characteristics and needs of the adult learner and articulates the program to students and staff. The Program Facilitator II is responsible for new part-time teacher orientation and training, staff development, curriculum development, and selection of instructional materials. The Program Facilitator II is in charge of student enrollment, assessment testing, class placement, and pre-post achievement testing.

    The Program Facilitator II reports directly to the Head Administrator for Adult & Continuing Education.

    Major Responsibilities:
    Under the general supervision of the Head Administrator for Adult & Continuing Education, the Program Facilitator II:

    • Serves as the facilitator for the day and evening English as a Second Language, Citizenship, High School Credit Diploma and Enrichment programs.
    • Organizes student enrollment, assessment testing, class assignment, and pre-post achievement tests at all sites.
    • Provides orientation and training for new part-time teachers.
    • Coordinates staff development activities for Adult Education teachers.
    • Develops curriculum for English as a Second Language and Citizenship programs.
    • Reviews, inventories, and orders appropriate instructional material for all programs
    • Attends Adult Education Program Facilitator meetings under the auspices of the State Department of Education.
    • Supervises the Data Base Management System to assure that complete and appropriate information is submitted to the State Department of Education.
    • Is responsible for volunteer training and coordination.
    • Is responsible for any workplace activities.
    • Is responsible for any related tasks that arise.

    Flex Hours:

    • Monday and Wednesday 8:30- 3:30 and 6:00- 9:00 P.M.
    • Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30-12:30 P.M.
    • Friday 8:30-3:30 P.M.

    Qualifications:

    • Connecticut State Department of Education Certification endorsed for:
      • Non-English Speaking Adults (088)
      • External Diploma Program/Noncredit Mandated Programs ( I 07)
      • High School Credit Diploma Program (106)
    • Experience working in an adult education program preferred
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the CASAS Assessment and Pre-Post Tests required by the State Department of Education, preferred
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the Data Base Management System (DBMS) used in adult education programs, preferred
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the competencies and materials used in adult education programs
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching the subject area(s) and or instructional levels targeted
    • Ability to work with a diverse population
    • Evidence of leadership and organizational ability
    • Evidence of organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion
    • Superior communication skills (oral and written)
    • Knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement Operating Systems (i.e. Windows); Office suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs); Presentation Software (i.e. PowerPoint, Keynote); Spreadsheets (i.e. Excel, Google Spreadsheets); Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Skype); Accounting Software (i.e. QuickBooks); Student Information Systems (i.e. Naviance, Power School); or any other technology deemed relevant for this position.
